VIP late-night jam session with Emmet Cohen and festival artists, part of the Platinum Weekend Pass at the inaugural ATX Jazz Fest.
Emmet Cohen leads a late-night jam session at Assembly Hall on Friday, April 2, 2027, joined by other artists from the festival. It's one of the Platinum-only shows of the inaugural ATX Jazz Fest, which ATX Chamber Music and Jazz is launching that month. The organizers describe the festival as the most concentrated gathering of jazz talent ever assembled in Texas, bringing together Grammy winners, MacArthur Fellows, and NEA Jazz Masters.
Assembly Hall is a converted East Austin venue at 1121 E 7th St, about a mile and a half from the Moody Amphitheater. It's a 300-seat room with polished concrete floors, 16-foot ceilings, arched windows, and exposed steel beamsāa close-range contrast to the open-air main stage. The jam is part of ATX Chamber Music and Jazz's 2026/2027 season, a series they say draws on Austin's character and is committed to accessibility: ten percent of seating is donated to children and their chaperones, and artists perform for free in schools, youth clubs, and retirement homes.
