Kris Kimura and the Ryan Davis Trio perform American Songbook classics on clarinet, flute, sax and vocals at the Parker Jazz Club.
The Kris Kimura Quartet plays Parker Jazz Club on Saturday, August 8, with two sets at 7 PM and 9:30 PM. The quartet features Kimura backed by the Ryan Davis Trio, and the house band sits in as well.
Kimura owns the club, and the night is built around his work across a wide range of woodwinds. He plays clarinet, flute, and saxophone, and throws in ukulele, trumpet, and flugelhorn along the way, with award-winning vocals mixed in. The repertoire comes from the American Songbook, with classics inspired by Nat King Cole, Chet Baker, Mel Tormé, and Frank Sinatra.
Inside, the room is lit by soft candlelight and moody lighting, with every seat facing a central stage. If you can't make it in person, the show is available via livestream at parkerjazzclub.com/livestream. Online donations are welcome, and all proceeds go to the Texas Jazz Society, a local nonprofit.
