Concert by Austin music icon Kevin McKinney, former frontman of Soulhat, at C-Boy's Heart & Soul.
Kevin McKinney plays C-Boy's Heart & Soul on Tuesday, September 29, starting at 6:30 PM. If you've spent any time following the Austin scene over the last few decades, the name is a familiar one. McKinney is an Austin music icon and the longtime frontman of Soulhat, the band whose rootsy rock and soulful songwriting helped carve out his place in the city's music history. This is a solo bill, with McKinney taking the stage on his own.
The venue is C-Boy's Heart & Soul, located at 2008 South Congress Avenue in the heart of SoCo. It's billed as the swankiest club in the neighborhood, and it carries a bit of local history behind it. Continental Club owner Steve Wertheimer dedicated the space to C-Boy Parks, who ran the now-defunct Rome Inn. C-Boy's opened on New Year's Eve 2013, and these days it's also where Dale Watson hosts Chicken Shit Bingo on the back patio on Sundays. On a Tuesday night, though, the focus is inside on the music.
