Jolie and The Jackalopes

Jolie and The Jackalopes are back at the Little Longhorn Saloon on Saturday, September 12. It's part of a regular run they've got going there, and it's Jolie Goodnight herself who presents the nights.

If you haven't caught them yet, the sound is cosmic country—freewheeling and high-rolling, with Goodnight on lead vocals. She grew up in the world of rockabilly, country, and Americana, and that shows in the way the band leans into the Texas tradition. It's the kind of music that fits right in at a place like the Little Longhorn, and since they play there on a regular basis, it's become a bit of a fixture for them.

Goodnight comes from a deep musical line: she's the daughter of legendary producer Joe Gracey and singer-songwriter Kimmie Rhodes. That background puts her in the middle of the scene she's singing from—she's colored on Willie Nelson's tour bus, taken birthday calls from Waylon Jennings, and watched Rosie Flores from side-stage. The critics have been on her voice, too: MOJO Magazine called it "tender enough to melt a stone heart," and Downbeat Drag Magazine called her a "true Texas treasure."

They play the Little Longhorn on the second Saturday of the month, so this is one of those nights that comes around again and again. You'll find them at 5434 Burnet Road in Austin, with Jolie Goodnight fronting the band.
