Concert by the Austin cover band Jimmy Eat Brisket, playing 90s and 2000s emo, pop-punk and post-hardcore.
Jimmy Eat Brisket plays The Rustic Tap on Saturday, October 24, starting at 9 PM. If the name sounds familiar, it's because they're an Austin cover band that spends its sets working through the catalog of 90s and 2000s emo, pop-punk, and post-hardcore. The set is built around the bands that defined that era, and the list they pull from is long enough to cover a few different corners of the scene.
On the pop-punk side, they lean on the big names: Blink-182, Green Day, Sum 41, New Found Glory, and Yellowcard. If you grew up on the Warped Tour circuit, those are the ones you probably know by heart. Then there's the more melodic, emo-leaning stuff from Jimmy Eat World, Paramore, and Fall Out Boy, along with the theatrical streak of My Chemical Romance and Panic! At The Disco.
They also reach into the heavier, post-hardcore end of things, drawing from A Day to Remember, Underoath, Alexisonfire, and Brand New. It's a wide net, and the setlist tends to pull from across that whole span rather than sticking to one specific sound. If you spent your teenage years with a CD binder full of these bands, you'll recognize a good chunk of what they play.
