Jimmie Vaughan

Jimmie Vaughan plays Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater on Friday, August 7, as part of a 2026-2027 tour that stops at 17 dates across 15 cities. It's a hometown show for a Texas bluesman who's spent his life around the guitar.

Born in Dallas in 1951, Vaughan is the older brother of Stevie Ray Vaughan. His playing took shape from the likes of Freddie King, Albert King, B. B. King, and Johnny 'Guitar' Watson. In 1979, he formed The Fabulous Thunderbirds with Kim Wilson, Keith Fergusson, and Mike Buck. The band's first four albums, recorded between 1979 and 1983, are counted among the most important 'white blues' recordings of that era. He left the group in 1989, and later recorded the duo album Family Style with Stevie Ray, which came out after his brother died in a 1990 helicopter crash. His first solo album, Strange Pleasure, arrived in 1994.

The Austin date is one of 17 on a tour running through 2026 and 2027, hitting 15 cities along the way. It's a long stretch of road, and this is the stop that brings him back to Texas. The show is at Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater on Friday, August 7.
