Jazz Brunch: A Fall Fundraiser

Lucía headlines a jazz brunch at De Nada Cantina on South 1st on Sunday, October 25, with a supporting cast of Austin artists. It's a fundraiser for ATX Chamber Music & Jazz, and the morning is built around brunch, cocktails, and live jazz. The event is part of the organization's 2026-2027 season.

Lucía is a 24-year-old vocalist from Veracruz, Mexico, whose work sits at the intersection of jazz, Latin, and pop. She grew up singing and dancing in her parents' son jarocho band, Son de Madera, and later studied voice at Universidad Veracruzana, where she earned a bachelor's in jazz studies in 2022. That same year, she became the first Mexican artist to enter the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, and she won it. Since then, she's collaborated with Natalia Lafourcade, Aloe Blacc, La Santa Cecilia, Quetzal, Alex Mercado, and the National Jazz Orchestra of Mexico, and has performed at Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, UCLA's Royce Hall, and ASU Gammage.

The brunch is presented by ATX Chamber Music & Jazz, a local nonprofit founded by co-artistic directors Geoffrey Herd and Anna Petrova. They describe their mission as drawing on Austin's vibrant character to stage innovative, immersive chamber music and jazz, with accessibility at the center of what they do. Ten percent of their seating is donated to children and their chaperones, and their artists regularly perform free of charge in schools, youth clubs, and retirement homes. The fundraiser supports that work.

Lucía leads the bill on Sunday, October 25, at De Nada Cantina on South 1st, joined by a lineup of Austin artists. It's a brunch, so you'll find food and cocktails alongside the music. You can find more details and tickets at atxmusic.com.
