Live music performance by Jay Moeller, a blues and rock musician, at C-Boy's Heart & Soul.
Jay Moeller plays C-Boy's Heart & Soul on Wednesday, July 29, with the set starting at 6:30 PM. It's a solo outing for Moeller, who is one half of The Moeller Brothers.
Moeller's roots go back to the drums his father brought home, and from there he and his brother spent their time digging through the family record collection. They landed on Jimmy Reed, Slim Harpo, the Rolling Stones, and the Kinks — the kind of discovery that ends up shaping a sound. Since then, The Moeller Brothers have backed a string of blues legends, including Lazy Lester, Sam Myers, James Cotton, and LouAnn Barton, and they're currently members of the Fabulous Thunderbirds. Moeller describes this set as a garage mix of raw blues, soul, and rock and roll.
C-Boy's Heart & Soul is on South Congress, at 2008 S. Congress (South Congress and South First). It's billed as the swankiest club in SoCo, opened by Continental Club owner Steve Wertheimer on New Year's Eve 2013 and named for C-Boy Parks, who ran the now-defunct Rome Inn. The place hosts Dale Watson's Chicken Shit Bingo on the back patio on Sundays, while the upstairs bar recedes from the raucous downstairs in a room modeled after its sister venue just down the street.
