An Invitation to Rest for BIPOC Women Founders and Leaders

Founders Reset is hosting An Invitation to Rest for BIPOC Women Founders and Leaders at the African American Cultural and Heritage Facility on Saturday, August 8. It's a restorative gathering built for BIPOC women founders and leaders, and the whole thing is centered on the idea of slowing down.

Founders Reset describes the gathering as a space to pause, reconnect, and be cared for. They frame it for the women who are always the ones holding it all together — the ones carrying the responsibilities, making the decisions, and solving the problems. The invitation is to slow down and remember that rest isn't a reward you earn, but a practice you maintain. The gathering connects participants in community and creates room for stillness.

The venue is the African American Cultural and Heritage Facility at 912 E 11th St, part of the City of Austin's commitment to preserving and enhancing the quality of life for African Americans. It's named after the state-designated African American Cultural Heritage District. The site houses the historical Dedrick Hamilton House, built around 1880 in one of East Austin's earliest African American communities; today it serves as an African American Visitors Centre and art studio. Its façade carries a 6-foot by 25-foot glass and ceramic tile mosaic mural by artist Reginald C.

It runs from 11 AM to 2 PM, and admission is free. Space is intentionally limited, so you'll need to register in advance through the link on the city's website.
