Special edition of Host Publications' feminist reading series and ice cream party with open mic, masks, and giveaways.
I Scream Social is back at Alienated Majesty Books on Friday, August 28, from 7 PM to 9 PM. It's a special edition of the feminist reading series hosted by Host Publications, and as the name suggests, it's as much an ice cream party as it is a reading.
The bill for the night features Nala Washington, Ira Goga, and Osmani R. Ochoa. They'll be reading their work in the same room where the ice cream is served, so you can move between the readings and the treats without missing a beat. Beyond the scheduled readers, there's an open mic for anyone who wants to step up and share something of their own, and the night includes masks and giveaways on top of the ice cream.
To get some context: I Scream Social is a monthly feminist reading series and ice cream party held at Alienated Majesty Books and hosted by Katelin Kelly and Claire Bowman. It's a regular fixture of the city's literary scene, and this particular edition adds the open mic, masks, and giveaways to the usual mix of readings and sweets. If you've been to one before, you know the drill—readings, ice cream, and a room full of people who show up for both. If this is your first, it's a good way to get a sense of what the series does.
