Honky Tonk Night at Calamity returns to Hole in the Wall on Monday, July 20, and this time it's the last one. The night has been a regular at the venue for a while, and this edition is billed as the final Honky Tonk at Calamity, with the organizers preparing for a new adventure.
It's a two-part evening. The first half is for the beginners: two-step dance lessons that get you moving before the music really takes over. Once the lessons wrap, the dance floor stays open for the rest of the night. The music comes from Ori Moore and the Lonesome Rangers, who'll be providing the honky tonk that keeps the room spinning.
If you've never been, Hole in the Wall is one of Austin's oldest live music spots, dating back to 1974. It's at 2538 Guadalupe Street, right near campus. The place has live music every night from 7 PM to close, two stages, a beer garden, and a pinball arcade. Honky Tonk Night has been one of its free regulars, and this is the final run of it. Since it's the last one, it's a good night to bring a friend who's never tried two-stepping and get them on the floor.
