New Strangers headline Hole in the Wall on Thursday, July 23, with s u n g u i l t and Brian Brian Brian opening. It's a three-act bill that stretches late into the night, with the headliner taking the stage around 11 PM.
The lineup follows a set schedule: Brian Brian Brian kicks things off at 9 PM, s u n g u i l t follows at 10 PM, and New Strangers close it out at 11 PM. If you're only coming for the headliner, you've got a couple of hours to get settled before they start.
Hole in the Wall is one of Austin's oldest venues, opened in 1974 on the edge of campus. For years it was a folkie hangout and a favorite stage for Townes Van Zandt, Nanci Griffith, and Blaze Foley before it became a breeding ground for punk, cosmic country, and alternative, launching the careers of Timbuk3, Fastball, Spoon, and Shakey Graves. It's a historic two-stage dive with a collective capacity of a couple hundred, and it still books live music every night, remaining a proving ground for new bands. It shuttered briefly in 2002 and came dangerously close to being priced out in 2015.
