Award-winning Broadway musical created and inspired by Alicia Keys, following a 17-year-old girl full of fire, set to the rhythm of the 90s.
Hell's Kitchen plays Bass Concert Hall from February 23 to March 3, 2027, bringing the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical to Austin for a ten-day run. It's a production created and inspired by Alicia Keys, and the music is where it all starts: the score blends her greatest hits with new songs written specifically for the show. The whole thing is set to the rhythm of the 90s, and the cast recording took home the Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album.
The story follows Ali, a 17-year-old girl full of fire, in a tale about finding yourself, your purpose, and the people who lift you up. Along the way, she meets a neighbor who becomes her mentor and opens her heart to the power of the piano. It's described as a mother-daughter love story and a live-wire theatrical adaptation of Keys' hit list.
Behind the scenes, the music is by Alicia Keys, with the book by Kristoffer Diaz, direction by Michael Greif and choreography by Camille A. Brown. The production is presented by Texas Performing Arts, which has called Bass Concert Hall home for the past 35 years. Over that time, the venue has hosted the Austin premieres of Hamilton, The Lion King, Wicked, Jersey Boys, Cats and The Phantom of the Opera.
