Live rock music night featuring Heavy Velvet, Fifi Knifefight, Ash and the Endings, and Big Bad at the Chess Club, presented as Ashton's Bday!
Heavy Velvet, Fifi Knifefight, Ash and the Endings, and Big Bad all play Chess Club on Thursday, September 17. The night is billed as "Shorty Presents: Ashton's Bday!", a birthday celebration for Ashton that fills the room with loud music.
It's a four-band bill, and they're spaced out across the night. Big Bad opens at 9 PM, followed by Ash and the Endings at 10 PM, Fifi Knifefight at 11 PM, and Heavy Velvet taking the midnight slot. If you're only coming for one of them, you've got a good idea of when to show up; if you're staying for the whole thing, it's a long run that stretches well past midnight.
The venue is Chess Club, 617 Red River in downtown Austin. It's an intimately designed, vibrant facility that programs up-and-coming bands and underdogs, playing the space formerly known as Plush. Doors open at 8 PM, so there's an hour before the first set starts.
