HAAM Day 2026, with Women In Jazz curating late-night music at The Elephant Room, a historic jazz venue in Austin.
Women In Jazz take over the late-night slot at The Elephant Room on Tuesday, September 22, as part of the venue's HAAM Day. The music starts at 9 PM, and there's no cover charge.
If you're not familiar, HAAM Day is the night The Elephant Room dedicates to the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, the non-profit that provides health services and emergency financial assistance to the city's music community. It's a night that puts the spotlight on the people who keep Austin's music scene running, and this year Women In Jazz are the ones curating the music.
The Elephant Room itself is a fixture of the downtown scene, located in the basement of the historic Swift Building at 315 Congress Ave. It's been one of the city's go-to jazz rooms for over 26 years, and it's earned some heavy recognition along the way: a Senate Bill Resolution named it one of the top 10 jazz venues in the nation, and Down Beat Magazine ranked it among the top 100 in the world. The basement space is built for big bands and local heroes, but the room also books classical orchestral and blues, with live music on Tuesdays.

Since it's a Tuesday, you can come by for the music and stay for a meal—there's a kitchen on site. Just keep in mind that admission is 21 and over. The show kicks off at 9 PM, and it's free, so you can just walk in and listen.
