A weekly pansexual dance night hosted by The Glitoris at Barbarella, featuring dance music with integrity and no intrusive remixes.
The Glitoris brings TuezGayz back to Barbarella on Tuesday, September 8. It's a 21+ night, and if you've been around the Austin dance scene for a while, you know the drill: it's a weekly pansexual dance night that's been running for years.
There's a specific way Barbarella handles its dance floors. The venue makes a point of playing dance music with integrity, which here means respect for the song. You won't find unnecessary scratching or mixing, and they steer clear of top 40 hits and homogenous techno beats. The idea is to let the crowd dance without interruptions or intrusive remixes getting in the way of the music.
TuezGayz grew out of The Glitoris, a local dance blog run by Miz G. Her Twitter feed has built an international following for its raunchy, femme-skeeze coverage of dance music, and the project has gone on to host SXSW parties. For a long time, Miz G has argued that the gay scene needs to broaden its musical horizons, and that's the spirit that carries into the night.
