An evening of gay, drag, and drunk history raising funds for Trans Texas, led by Cupcake and Senator Colleen de Forrest.
Gay, Drag, Drunk History comes to Stargazer on Thursday, August 20, from 8 PM to 10 PM. It's presented by the Joy Resistance Network, with Queen Historians Cupcake and Senator Colleen de Forrest leading the night.
Part of Austin Pride, the show pairs joy as resistance and laughter as medicine to spotlight queer trailblazers too often left out of the history books. The whole thing springs from the idea that American history is full of queer icons whose stories usually stay hidden, and the show works to bring them to the front. It's less of a lecture and more of a performance, with Cupcake and Senator Colleen de Forrest taking the lead on the storytelling.
It doubles as a fundraiser, too: 50% of all proceeds go to Trans Texas (TENT), Texas' only trans-led advocacy organization. So your ticket does two things at once—it puts a few forgotten queer figures back in the conversation and helps keep a trans-led organization running here in the state.
