Hyperreal Film Club is hosting Film x Film: Turbo Hyperreal Takeover on Saturday, August 8, at its space at 301 Chicon in Austin Lower East. The night is a collaboration between the club and ATX Film Lab, a family-owned Best of Austin winner that processes 35mm and 120mm film in both color and black and white. The two are framing the evening as a celebration of both kinds of film: the film you shoot and the film you watch.
On the medium screen, they're showing Clue, the 1985 comedy based on the board game, with trivia, drinks, and popcorn on the side. It's a crowd-pleaser that fits the mood of the night—something you can lean into with a drink in your hand and a few people to trade guesses with during the trivia.
For context, Hyperreal Film Club is a microcinema and movie-theater revival series that the Austin Chronicle named Most Marvelous Microcinema in its 2025 Best of Austin Awards.
