Concert by the influential sludge metal band Eyehategod at the Come and Take It Live venue in Austin.
Eyehategod play Come and Take It Live on Saturday, October 17, with the show starting at 6 PM. It's a single-band bill, so they're the only act on the night.
If you're not familiar with them, Eyehategod are a sludge metal band from New Orleans, formed in 1988 by guitarist Jimmy Bower and vocalist Michael IX Williams. They helped pioneer a harsh, sludge-punk sound that became a cornerstone of the sludge metal genre. Their discography includes influential albums like In the Name of Suffering, Take as Needed for Pain, and Dopesick.
That sound is built on a slow, heavy crawl, and they've spent decades leaning into it. The New Orleans roots are a big part of the identity, too — that swampy, oppressive atmosphere is baked into the music. They've been at it since the late eighties, so they've got a long run of records behind them.
