Reggae and reggae-rock concert with Evening Echoes and Sugar Waves at Flamingo Cantina, a 21+ event.
Evening Echoes and Sugar Waves play Flamingo Cantina on Friday, September 11, for a night of reggae and reggae-rock. It's a double bill presented by the venue itself, which has been a fixture on East 6th since 1991.
Evening Echoes is an up-and-coming reggae band from San Antonio, formed in 2023 and fronted by Danny Asgari, Gary Lotts, and Manny Narkrong. They describe their sound as a blend of reggae, rock, funk, and dub, built around soulful rhythms, rich harmonies, and an energetic stage presence. Their roots are in classic roots reggae, but they also draw from more modern acts like Tribal Seeds, Stick Figure, The Expendables, The Elovaters, and Passafire. Sugar Waves adds its own twist to the mix, leaning more toward alt-rock and pop influences.
Between the two, the night covers a fair amount of ground—from the roots-heavy side of reggae to the rockier, pop-leaning edges of the genre. If you're familiar with the bands mentioned above, you've got a good sense of where the sound lands. It's a 21+ show, so bring your ID.
