Escape the Box is running its time travel-themed escape game at the Texas State Capitol (1100 Congress) this Sunday, August 16. It's an outdoor experience that turns the Capitol grounds into a giant puzzle, blending a scavenger hunt, an escape-room-style challenge, and an immersive walking tour. Instead of a standard tour, you'll spend your time cracking codes and solving puzzles to uncover architectural and historical details you'd probably walk right past on a normal day.
Each game starts with a live-hosted introduction, and from there your team heads out with a kit of clues: vintage maps, cipher wheels, mixtapes, and telegrams. The time-travel story draws on local history and public art, and the whole thing is run by Wishing Horse Productions. They bill it as Austin's most uproarious immersive escape game, and because it's air-conditioned, it works as a summer team-building activity as much as a weekend outing. It's offered as a private experience for corporate teams, conferences, and retreats, alongside public games for visitors and locals.

Standard groups are 4 to 10 people, though smaller groups may be placed together. It's best for ages 10 and up. There are two time slots on Sunday: 11 AM to 1 PM and 1 PM to 3 PM. Tickets are $39 per person.
