Beginner two-step dance lessons at Donn's Depot with live music by Frank Cavitt & The Honky-Tonk Doctors.
Double or Nothing Two-Step is holding beginner lessons at Donn's Depot this Wednesday, August 19, from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM. It's part of their weekly Wednesday series, so if you can't make this one, you can just catch them next week. The lesson is free, though donations and tips are welcome, and there's no cover to get into the venue. Just a heads-up: Donn's Depot is 21+.
If you've never heard of them, Double or Nothing is Austin's honky-tonk dance school, and they've built a pretty big reputation around the city. They're billed as Austin's most popular provider of country-dance lessons, and the Austin Chronicle named them Best Two-Stepping Lessons in their Best of Austin Awards. They teach the Austin honky-tonk two-step, a small-space swing that evolved to fit the city's dance floors, and they're known for getting first-timers dancing the same night. No partner or experience is needed, and partners are rotated throughout the class, so solo dancers, couples, and groups are all welcome. You don't need to bring anyone with you to get on the floor.
They've worked with some high-profile corporate clients over the years—Apple, Amazon, Google, TikTok, Starbucks, Red Bull, HBO Max, Tecovas, Kendra Scott, and Cirque du Soleil—and have been featured in Texas Monthly, Garden & Gun, Tribeza, and Austin Monthly. Altogether, they've taught more than 50,000 people to two-step. If you've been wanting to pick up the dance but didn't know where to start, this is as low-stakes as it gets.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Austin and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.
