Don Was and the Pan-Detroit Ensemble

Don Was is playing Antone's on Tuesday, September 29, leading the Pan-Detroit Ensemble. It's a single night on the calendar, and the bill is straightforward: Don Was and his ensemble taking the stage at one of the city's oldest rooms.

If you're not familiar with the name, Don Was is a producer and musician who's spent decades behind the boards for some of the biggest names in rock and soul. Here, he's out front. The Pan-Detroit Ensemble is the group he's bringing with him, and the name points right back to the city that shaped his sound. It's a Detroit-rooted project, and that's exactly what you'll hear—the kind of music that comes out of a city with that kind of soul and R&B history.

It's a 21-and-up night, so you'll need your ID at the door. There's also a two-day pass available, which is worth keeping in mind if you're planning to stick around for more than just this one show. The music starts at 8 PM, and doors open at 7 PM, so you've got an hour to get in and settle in before the first note. Antone's is in Austin, TX, and the show is on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
