National tour of the heartwarming holiday musical re-imagining Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton.
Dolly Parton's Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol stops at Bass Concert Hall on Friday, November 27, as part of its national tour. It's a holiday musical that takes Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol and moves it to the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee in the 1930s. In this version, Ebenezer Scrooge owns a mining company town, and the story follows the same arc you know: on Christmas Eve, as a snowstorm rolls in, he's visited by his deceased business partner and three ghosts who force him to see life anew and discover that love is the greatest gift we have.
Eleven-time GRAMMY winner Dolly Parton wrote the music and lyrics, and the book is by David H. Bell, adapted by Bell, Paul T. Couch, and Curt Wollan. The production is presented by Right Angle Entertainment and Paul T. Couch. It's recommended for ages 8 and over, so it's a good fit for families.
