Distant Worlds: music from FINAL FANTASY comes to Bass Concert Hall on Saturday, December 12, 2026, from 8:00 to 10:30 PM. It's the official symphonic concert experience of the FINAL FANTASY series, presented by AWR Music Productions and touring since 2007. The show has grown into an ever-expanding repertoire of the series' most iconic themes, and this Austin stop is built around FINAL FANTASY XIV and XVI.
Maestro Arnie Roth directs the evening, with the Distant Worlds Philharmonic and a chorus performing the music. Joining them is Amanda Achen, the original vocalist for FINAL FANTASY XIV and XVI. The program focuses on the work of composer Masayoshi Soken, but it pulls from the series' broader history too, with pieces by Nobuo Uematsu, Masashi Hamauzu, and Yoko Shimomura. Square Enix provides HD video projections that run alongside the music, so you're seeing the games' imagery while you hear the score.
If you've followed the series for a while, you'll recognize the names behind the music. Beyond Soken, the tour celebrates the work of Nobuo Uematsu, Masashi Hamauzu, Naoshi Mizuta, Hitoshi Sakimoto, Yoko Shimomura, and Masayoshi Soken, all performed by a symphony orchestra, choir, and soloists under Roth's baton. The HD video is a constant throughout the show, and the repertoire keeps growing as the series does.
