Grooveline Horns and D-Madness live at C-Boy's Heart & Soul Bar. 21+ only, $15 cover.
D-Madness and Grooveline Horns play C-Boy's Heart & Soul Bar on Tuesday, August 18. It's a double bill that puts two very different ways of making music on the same stage: one a one-man live loop, the other a three-piece horn section that's spent years working as a professional unit.
Grooveline Horns is a three-man section with Carlos Sosa on sax, Fernando Castillo on trumpet, and Reggie Watkins on trombone. They write, produce, and perform horn arrangements, and the albums they've been credited on have sold more than seven million copies. They've recorded and performed with Jason Mraz, Rob Thomas, Kelly Clarkson, The Meters, Willie Nelson, Ozomatli, Don Henley, and Warren Haynes, among many others.
D-Madness is an Austin artist who weaves modern soul, funk, hip hop, and reggae into a live performance loop of drums, bass, keyboards, vocals, and percussion. The Austin Chronicle has called him the 'Stevie Wonder of Austin.'

The venue, C-Boy's Heart & Soul, is in SoCo and is described as the swankiest club in the neighborhood. Continental Club owner Steve Wertheimer dedicated it to C-Boy Parks, who ran the now-defunct Rome Inn. It opened on New Year's Eve 2013 and still hosts Dale Watson's Chicken Shit Bingo on the back patio on Sundays. Doors open at 9:30 PM, and Grooveline Horns take the stage at 10:45 PM. There's a $15 cover, and the show is 21+.
