Caravan Strange plays Sahara Lounge on Friday, July 24, and they're bringing two openers along for the ride. It's a full night of music, so you can roll in early and stay through the headliner. Paula Maya kicks things off at 7 PM, followed by Ancient Forward at 8:30 PM, with Caravan Strange taking the stage at 10 PM.
If you're not familiar with the spot, Sahara Lounge is a laid-back music dive in rural East Austin. It opened in 2011 when the BYO-liquor roadhouse T.C.'s Lounge retired, and it kept a good chunk of the old building—the big unpaved parking lot and the tiny corner stage included. The place adopted a vaguely African theme and fenced in a back patio, and it holds about 150 people. It books rock, funk, Afro-jazz, hip-hop, country, Brazilian and garage rock seven nights a week, so it's one of those rooms that stays busy regardless of what's on the bill.
