Psychedelic rock band Black Moth Super Rainbow performs with special guests Giant Day at Radio/East.
Black Moth Super Rainbow play Radio/East on Friday, August 7, with Giant Day opening. It's a double bill that puts two very different sounds on the same stage in one night, and if you've followed either, you know exactly what you're getting into.
Black Moth Super Rainbow is the project of producer and musician Tore Andalø, and it's hard to pin down. The music lives somewhere between psychedelic pop, electronic textures, and a sort of hazy, sun-drenched groove that feels like it's drifting in from a distance. It's the kind of sound that works as well in a pair of headphones as it does in a room full of people, and seeing it live is a different experience entirely.
Giant Day takes the other side of the bill. They're a band that leans into the melodic, guitar-driven side of indie rock, with a focus on songwriting and vocal harmonies. They bring a more traditional band energy to the night, which makes them a natural contrast to the electronic-leaning sound Black Moth Super Rainbow builds around them. Between the two, the evening covers a fair amount of ground.
