Bit Brigade performs rock covers of NES/SNES game soundtracks as they speed-run the game live on stage.
Bit Brigade plays Come and Take It Live on Friday, October 16, at 7 PM. If you've never seen them, the whole thing is a bit of a spectacle: a gamer speedruns a classic NES or SNES game live on stage while the band plays the game's soundtrack in perfect synchronization. For this show, they're running Mega Man II, Castlevania, and Tetris.
Bit Brigade started in Athens, Georgia, in 2004 as a math rock and video game music band, and they've built their following on these live shows. Noah McCarthy takes the lead on the d-pad, with Jace Bartet and Bryant Williamson on guitar, Mike Albanese on drums and Luke Fields on bass. Their discography includes full game soundtrack albums like Contra, Metroid and Mega Man II, and they describe their style as precise and energetic, sitting somewhere between rock, pop and progressive rock. The speedrun format means the music follows the action on screen, so the set changes depending on how the game is played.
