Being and Belonging: The Future of Asian America

Being and Belonging is back at the Asian American Resource Center (AARC) on Tuesday, August 25, from 6 PM to 8 PM. It's part of an educational pop-up series dedicated to Asian American history, culture, and the arts, and it's built for anyone who'd rather learn in an interactive, hands-on, and collaborative setting than in a traditional classroom. Each session opens up a different chapter of Asian American history through facilitated activities, guest speakers, and Asian American media. You don't have to attend every session to get something out of it—you can drop in for as many or as few as you like, and light refreshments are provided.

The series is hosted by the AARC, which they describe as a space of belonging and healing for Asian American communities in Austin and beyond. It's more than just a venue for these pop-ups; the center offers rental space, cultural and educational programming, health and wellness initiatives, and art and history exhibitions. Part of that work includes the AARC Senior Program for residents aged 50 and up, Youth and Teen Programs built around Asian American literature and the arts, and a Community Art Exhibit Program that shows AAPI artists' work year-round.
