Broadway musical based on Tim Burton's 1988 cult film, following Lydia Deetz and a demon with a thing for stripes.
Beetlejuice comes to Bass Concert Hall for a three-day run from March 19 to 21, 2027. It's the Broadway musical based on Tim Burton's 1988 cult film, which starred a young Winona Ryder alongside Geena Davis, Alec Baldwin and Michael Keaton. The stage version was directed by Alex Timbers, with a score by Eddie Perfect and a book by Scott Brown and Anthony King.
The story follows Lydia Deetz, a strange and unusual teenager drawn to the paranormal, who moves into a home haunted by the recently deceased couple Barbara and Adam Maitland and crosses paths with a rambunctious demon with a thing for stripes. The production brings the film's chaos to the stage with larger-than-life sandworms, ghostly apparitions and carnivalesque set design. It was nominated for Best Musical at the 2019 Tony Awards, and critics have described it as "SCREAMINGLY GOOD FUN!" (Variety), "a feast for the eyes and the soul" (Entertainment Weekly) and "a jaw-dropping funhouse" (The New York Times).
Ryan Stajmiger takes the title role, with Leianna Weaver as Lydia Deetz. David Wilson plays Adam and Kaitlin Feely plays Barbara, the couple haunting the house. Jeff Brooks is Charles, Bailey Frakenberg is Delia, Alessandra Casanova is Miss Argentina, and Adam Fields is Otho. Da'Zaria Harris plays Maxine Dean and Juno, Dan Mason is Maxie Dean, and Mai Caslowitz is the Girl Scout. Catie Davis directs the production, with choreography by Michael Fatica.
