First try of the seasonal sour ale White Tiger's Blood at Blue Owl Brewing, a smoothie sour blending banana, cinnamon and pineapple.
Blue Owl Brewing is releasing White Tiger's Blood on Friday, September 11, their latest seasonal sour ale. It's a smoothie sour, brewed with milk sugar, and it clocks in at 5.6% ABV.
The beer is a variation on the brewery's original summer sour, Tiger's Blood. This version blends creamy ripe banana with the warmth of cinnamon and a bright burst of pineapple—a combination the brewery says transports drinkers to a tropical paradise. The milk sugar gives it that smoothie-like body, so it's thicker and creamier than your average sour. And just in case you were wondering, the label notes that no tigers were harmed in the making of it.
Blue Owl Brewing has been operating in East Austin since 2015, and they've built their reputation around sour-mashing beer styles. Their lineup usually spans Eastside Specialty Sours, Bob's Fine Beers, and Austin Hard Seltzers. They even have their own way of measuring sourness, which they call 'Sour Units' (SUs).
