Second edition of a wine tasting and auction benefiting Good Work Austin, the nonprofit supporting Austin's hospitality workers.
ATX Somms is bringing back Grapes for Good on Sunday, September 13, at Wanderlust Wine Co. in East Austin. It's a wine tasting and auction, and this time the proceeds go to Good Work Austin, the nonprofit that supports the city's hospitality workers. The event runs from 6 PM to 9 PM, so it's a Sunday evening thing rather than a late night.
This is the second edition of Grapes for Good. The first one happened in August 2025 at this same East Austin spot, when more than 30 local wine professionals came together to raise money for the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund through the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country. That was run under ATX Somms' 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, and this second outing shifts the focus entirely to Good Work Austin.
ATX Somms itself has been around since 2018, founded by wine professional Mandi Nelson and her colleagues as a public-service nonprofit. They offer free beverage education, monthly blind tasting practice, and sommelier exam prep for hospitality workers. During the pandemic, Nelson also started Austin Shift Meal, so the focus on supporting the people who work in the city's bars and restaurants is a long-standing part of what they do.

As for the venue, Wanderlust Wine Co. opened its 13,000-square-foot East Austin location in July 2021, inside the former Infinite Monkey Theorem urban winery space. They describe it as the world's largest self-pour wine-on-tap concept, with an 80-tap wine wall. Tickets range from $75 to $225, and the whole thing runs from 6 PM to 9 PM on Sunday, September 13, at 702 Shady Lane.
