An interactive evening to sample tequilas from eight producers and vote for ATX Cocina's featured House Tequila, with tastings and passed bites.
ATX Cocina is hosting the ATX Cocina Tequila Awards on Tuesday, August 25, starting at 6 PM. It's the inaugural edition of the ATX Agave Awards, and the whole night is built around some of Mexico's finest tequilas. The setup is pretty straightforward: you sample expressions from eight different producers, and the brands' own ambassadors are there to walk you through Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo tastings. After you've had your fill, you cast your votes to decide which one becomes ATX Cocina's featured House Tequila for the coming year.
It's an interactive evening, so you're not just sipping and nodding—you're actually part of the decision. The tasting covers the three main styles, from the unaged Blanco to the aged Reposado and the longer-aged Añejo, so you get a good sense of how each producer handles the different expressions. The ambassadors are there to guide you through the nuances, which is helpful if you're not already well-versed in the differences between the three.
Your ticket covers a few things beyond the tasting itself. You start with a welcome margarita, and throughout the night, cocktail-style bites are passed around. You'll also get three voting tokens to use on your favorites and an Agave Awards tote bag to take home. The whole thing is strictly 21+, and tickets are non-refundable, so keep that in mind before you buy.
