Ruben Ramos album release celebrating Antone's 51st anniversary, with Carrie Rodriguez and Los Texmaniacs.
Ruben Ramos is bringing his album release to Antone's on Sunday, July 19, at 7 PM. The night doubles as a celebration of Antone's 51st anniversary, so it's two milestones in one bill. Ramos, who hails from East Los Angeles, is the main feature, and he's not coming alone: Carrie Rodriguez and Los Texmaniacs are on the lineup with him.
Rodriguez is an Austin local, so she's playing on home turf. Los Texmaniacs are a Texas-Mexican conjunto band with members spread across San Antonio, Albuquerque, East Los Angeles, and El Valle de Tejas, which gives the whole night a broad reach across the Southwest. Between Ramos, Rodriguez, and the Texmaniacs, there's a lot of ground covered from East LA to Austin and beyond.
And then there's the venue. Antone's is a historic Austin institution, and it still serves the Po Boy sandwiches that Jalal created there back in 1962. If you've been around the city a while, you know the place. Between the new album and the anniversary, it's a good night to be in the room.
