Anamanaguchi

Madeon brings his new show Victory to ACL Live at The Moody Theater on Saturday, October 31, with Anamanaguchi opening. The night is built around Victory, the live presentation of Madeon's latest record, which he describes as a blend of punk, indie rock, electro-clash, sci-fi and high fashion. It's a bit of a departure from the sound that first put him on the map.

Madeon is the stage name of Hugo Pierre Leclercq, a French producer from Nantes who went viral at 17 with "Pop Culture," a live mashup of 39 songs played on a Novation Launchpad. Since then, he's played Coachella and Lollapalooza, recorded with Lady Gaga, and collaborated with Coldplay, Ellie Goulding, Muse and Deadmau5. His 2015 debut Adventure drew rave reviews, and his 2019 follow-up Good Faith debuted at #1 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic chart and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Electronic Album. Victory is his newest record, and this show is the live version of it.

Opening the night is Anamanaguchi, a four-piece from New York and Los Angeles. They started on online forums programming music on video game consoles, released free EPs through netlabels, headlined festivals in Minecraft and collaborated with Hatsune Miku and Rocket League. Their 2019 album [USA] pushed their digital language into the physical world, and 2024's Anyway turned toward the people inside that machine, drawing on the band's formative love of emo, punk and indie rock. Between Madeon's new record and Anamanaguchi's recent work, the night leans toward the punk and indie rock side of electronic music.
