A puppetry and storytelling performance that blends music and multimedia to explore themes of family, land and water.
All My Relations Collective brings Skeleton Canoe to the Oscar G. Brockett Theatre on the University of Texas at Austin campus this April. It's a puppetry and storytelling performance presented with Fusebox, and it runs over two days: Friday, April 23, at 7 PM and Saturday, April 24, at 2 PM.
Skeleton Canoe follows Nawbin, an Anishinaabe youth who accidentally breaks their family's canoe paddle in a fit of emotion. After that, Nawbin flees home and journeys along the water to discover truths and a way back to themselves. The performance blends puppetry, storytelling, music, and multimedia design, and it's aimed at young audiences, pulling them into a world where land, water, and family are all interconnected. If you're bringing kids, it's worth noting that a School Day Performance is also offered.

The production is presented by the University of Texas at Austin College of Fine Arts Visiting Artist Endowment, with the Tejemos Foundation, Lynne Dobson, and Greg Wooldridge as presenting sponsors, and additional support from the College of Fine Arts O'Donnell Visiting Artist Endowment. Between the puppetry, the music, and the multimedia, it's a multi-layered piece that works for families and younger crowds. You can catch it Friday, April 23, at 7 PM or Saturday, April 24, at 2 PM at the Oscar G. Brockett Theatre.
