A world-class road race featuring a marathon, half marathon and 5K with a downtown finish line festival, live music and a beer garden.
The Ascension Seton Austin Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K returns to Congress Ave on Sunday, February 14, 2027, with a 7 AM start. It's a Valentine's Day morning that takes over downtown, with both the start and finish lines on Congress Ave and the finish line sitting right in front of the Texas State Capitol.
The race has been around since 1992 and has grown into a world-class road race that pulls participants from all 50 states and more than 50 countries. The full marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier, and the course spans every quadrant of the city. It's billed as 'The Running Social Event of the Year' and as much a celebration of Austin's culture, energy and spirit as a race: runners pass through the city's eclectic neighborhoods, from the trendy SOCO district to historic Hyde Park, Zilker Park and East Austin, with rolling hills along the way and live music at every turn. The finish line on Congress Ave, in front of the Texas State Capitol, gives way to a downtown festival with a beer garden, local vendors and a concert.
Beyond the running, the event raises hundreds of thousands of dollars annually for non-profit organizations, with an option to fundraise for Dell Children's. The 2026 edition was a record-breaker, the largest in race history with more than 30,000 participants.
