A night of African music with Jeff Akoh, Afro Jazz and Zoumountchi, with a buffet and free dinner.
Jeff Akoh headlines Africa Night at The Sahara Lounge on Saturday, July 18, with Afro Jazz and Zoumountchi joining him on the bill. It's a full night of African music, and the whole thing comes with a buffet and free dinner.
If you've never been, The Sahara Lounge is a spacious, eclectic venue on Austin's East Side that keeps live music going every night, with sets that run through indie, African, and blues. It used to be the historic TC's Lounge, and the building and decor haven't changed much, so it still feels like a Texas juke joint. There's a full bar and seasonal drink specials, free parking, and The Sahara Smokehouse, which serves West African dishes and BBQ. Between sets, you can play pool or chess, write poetry on an antique Underwood typewriter, and dance to the music. Zoumountchi is back for 2026, so she'll be part of the lineup alongside Akoh and Afro Jazz.

The dinner is free, and the buffet is part of the evening. Between the music and the food, it's a long night rather than a quick set. Entry is free.
