A night of African music with The Point, Afro Jazz and Zoumountchi at Sahara Lounge.
Sahara Lounge is hosting Africa Night on Saturday, August 1, with three acts taking the stage over the course of the evening. It's a full night of African music in East Austin, running from 7 PM until 1 AM.
The bill is staggered, so you can catch one set or hang out for all three. It kicks off at 7:30 PM with Afro Jazz, featuring Abou Sylla and Ibrahim Aminou. From there, The Point takes over at 9 PM, and the night closes with Zoumountchi, who comes to Austin from Niamey, Niger, starting at 11 PM.
Because the sets are spread out, the night changes as it goes. You'll start with the jazz-leaning sound of Sylla and Aminou, move into The Point's set, and end with Zoumountchi's performance late in the evening. If you're coming for a specific act, it's worth keeping those times in mind so you know when to arrive.
