Concert by 54 Ultra as part of the Holiday Hootenanny festival, an annual Austin celebration of independent music with a holiday market.
54 Ultra are playing Radio/East on Friday, December 11, as part of the Holiday Hootenanny. It's an alternative and indie rock set, and it's one of the many acts that will cycle through the venue over the course of the weekend.
If you're not familiar with the Hootenanny, it's an annual Austin tradition that brings together dozens of national and local acts across two days—Friday, December 11, and Saturday, December 12—just before everyone disappears for the holidays. It started from an idea by Resound Presents and Austin concert photographer and Todo Records partner Pooneh Ghana to get every corner of the city's independent music scene into the same room before the calendar resets. This year, the party returns to Radio/East for two nights, and it's open to all ages.
Beyond the music, the nights pair a deliberately eclectic lineup with a holiday market for last-minute gifts, festive cocktails, and a mechanical reindeer. The whole thing is put on by Resound Presents and Pooneh Ghana, with a team from Resound, Pooneh, ILLfest, and KUTX. 54 Ultra is just one part of that larger spread, so you'll find plenty of other bands and singers on the bill throughout the weekend.
