Benefit concert with Kate Angel, Hooked Like Helen, Tyler Ivey, Mt. Bonnell and DJ Zakkemry for Central Texas Food Bank.
Kate Angel is putting together the 4th Annual Rock Out Hunger benefit concert at Come and Take It Live on Thursday, October 1, with all proceeds going to the Central Texas Food Bank. It's a multi-act bill, and Angel is the one organizing it, so the whole night is built around the fundraiser. The timing is a bit of a tell: it falls just as Thanksgiving is approaching, which is when food banks usually see their biggest surge in demand.
Angel headlines, and she's brought in a full lineup to fill out the evening. Hooked Like Helen, Tyler Ivey, Mt. Bonnell, and DJ Zakkemry are all on the bill, so you'll get a few different sounds across the night rather than just one act. It's a local gathering of Austin musicians coming together for a single cause, and the variety of names on the list means there's a good bit of ground to cover before the night wraps.
The fundraiser works by turning tickets into donations. $5 from every General Admission ticket sold goes to the food bank, and $10 comes off each VIP ticket. If you want to do more than that, there's a direct donation option for anyone attending, so you can contribute on top of the ticket price. The concert also collects canned foods, which you can bring along with you.
