A monthly craft-along to make DIY Artist Trading Cards with provided materials in an air-conditioned space, strictly 21+ with BYOB.
Make at Rosie is hosting its next Crafty Happy Hour on Monday, August 31, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. This one is all about Artist Trading Cards—ATCs for short—which are basically miniature works of art that you cut, collage, doodle, and stamp, and then swap with other people. It's part of their monthly Happy Hour & Craft-Along series, so it's a drop-in thing: you can show up whenever you like between 6:30 and 8:30 PM and just start making.
The materials come from the Rosie craft library, so you don't need to bring a thing to get started. If you're already working on something else—knitting, crochet, embroidery—you're welcome to bring that along too and work on it while you hang out. The whole night is strictly 21+, and since it's a happy hour, BYOB drinks and snacks are encouraged. It's an air-conditioned space, which is a nice thing to keep in mind for an August night in Austin.

They describe the atmosphere as relaxed and low-pressure, aimed at people who enjoy scrapbooking, journaling, drawing, or just playing with art supplies. If you've ever wanted to try your hand at something creative without the stress of a formal class, this is a good place to start. You can spend the evening making your own cards, trading them with others, or just working on your own project in the company of other makers. The night is run by the Make at Rosie makerspace, located at 8711 Burnet Road B30, Austin, TX 78757.
