2026 Legacy Business Month Kick-Off Party

Preservation Austin is kicking off the fourth annual Legacy Business Month at Zilker Brewing Co. on Thursday, October 1, from 6 to 9 PM. The party marks the start of a month-long celebration of Austin's classic businesses—the ones that have been keeping the city cool for more than 20 years. Preservation Austin is the non-profit behind the whole thing, and they bring it back every October.

The passport is the heart of the celebration. It lists ten beloved local businesses, and the idea is simple: visit each one, make a purchase, get your passport stamped, and win prizes along the way. It's a good excuse to spend a few weeks checking out some of the long-standing spots that have stuck around while the city has changed around them.

The kick-off party is where you get your gear. They'll be handing out free Legacy Business Month passports, and there's a passport photo booth on-site to get you started. Zilker Brewing Co. is also brewing a limited-edition LBM beer for the night, and there's bingo with prizes to keep things moving. It's a low-stakes way to get your passport in hand before the rest of the month rolls on.

Admission is free, so you can just drop in and hang out for a bit. The party runs from 6 to 9 PM at Zilker Brewing Co., 1701 E. Sixth, in Lower East Austin.
