Hands-on dumpling-making class led by Chef Tina, where participants learn to make and cook Asian dumplings and share a meal.
Chef Tina is hosting a hands-on dumpling-making class at Unity Atlanta Church on Saturday, October 24, starting at 6 PM. It's a two-hour session that takes you through the whole process, from the history of Asian dumplings to the actual making of them.
On the filling side, you'll mix chicken or tofu with scallion and ginger. From there, you'll practice two beginner-friendly folds, so you'll walk away knowing how to actually wrap them rather than just watching someone else do it. The cooking part covers both pan-frying and steaming—the combination that gives each dumpling a juicy center and a crisp golden bottom. You'll also make a dipping sauce to go with them, and then share the meal with the rest of the group.
It's a class for ages 18 and over, though 14- to 17-year-olds can join if they're accompanied by a parent or guardian. If you're 21 or older, you're welcome to bring your own wine or beer to sip on while you work. Everyone is asked to arrive 15 minutes early to leave time for parking and check-in.
