A day celebrating LGBTQ+ culture with music, live performances, food, crafts, and special guests at Georgia State University.
The Werkshop takes over the Georgia State University Student Center on Thursday, October 15, starting at 5 PM. It's a day celebrating LGBTQ+ culture, and it's billed as a Heritage Month event. The whole thing is open to students, faculty, and staff, but it's open to the public too, so you don't have to be affiliated with GSU to spend the afternoon there.
The day is built around a few different things running at once. There's music and live performances, food, giveaways, interactive crafts, and special guests. It's the kind of afternoon where you can drift between the stage and the craft tables, grab something to eat, and hang out for as long as you like. The organizers describe it as a place where community, creativity, and celebration collide, and that's a fair summary of what's on the table.
As for the venue, the Georgia State University Student Center is the hub of student activity on the Atlanta campus, made up of Student Center East and Student Center West. It houses a Cinefest film theatre, a dance studio, and new meeting spaces on the fourth floor of Student Center West. The center's mission is to nurture an inclusive and diverse community through its services, programs, and facilities, and it employs more than 100 students through the university's College to Career program. The event is at 55 Gilmer St SE, Atlanta, GA 30303.
