Immersive courtroom trial experience where the audience serves as the jury, examining evidence and delivering the verdict in a murder case involving a politician's son.
The Jury Experience opens at the Walter G. Ehmer Theater on Sunday, November 22, and runs through December 11. The theater is inside Georgia Tech's John Lewis Student Center at 351 Ferst Dr NW, right in Midtown.
If you've never seen it, the setup is pretty straightforward: the audience sits as the jury. You listen to the testimonies, examine the evidence, and then cast the vote that decides the accused's fate. The show's tagline, "The defendant's fate rests in your hands," isn't just for show—you're actually the one delivering the verdict. It mixes professional acting with multimedia elements, and each trial runs about an hour. Doors open half an hour early, and they don't let anyone in late, so you'll want to be in your seat before it starts.
This particular case, Murder #3, follows the son of a powerful politician who took the wheel of the family speedboat with an ex-lover and old friends on board. Hours later, one person was dead and another was in a coma, and he's now facing murder charges. It's part of a wider Atlanta series of cases that weigh responsibility and morality—another one, The Killer AI, deals with a fatal autonomous-vehicle crash. The show is for ages 12 and up, and it does touch on some heavy themes: domestic violence, emotional manipulation, alcohol use, and a distressing 911 call.
