Hands-on sushi-making class led by Chef Hiroki to learn rice, ingredients and rolling techniques before making three rolls to take home.
Chef Hiroki is hosting a hands-on sushi class at Just Love Coffee Cafe in Atlanta on Thursday, December 17, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. It's a casual, two-hour session where you actually make the food rather than just watching someone else do it.
Before you start rolling, Hiroki walks you through the basics that usually happen behind the scenes. You'll learn how to cook the right sushi rice, how to pick out fresh ingredients, and the rolling techniques that keep everything from falling apart. Once you've got the fundamentals down, you'll make three different rolls to take home: Spicy Tuna, California, and Jalapeño Salmon. The class is designed to engage all the senses, and since you're the one doing the work, you leave with a few actual skills rather than just a full stomach.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Atlanta and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

It's a BYOB affair, so you can bring along your own sake, wine, or beer to sip while you work. The class is for ages 18 and up with a valid ID, though kids 14 to 17 can join as long as they're accompanied by a parent or guardian. They ask that you arrive 15 minutes early to get settled before things kick off at 6:30 PM.
