Weekly Friday night outdoor movie screening of 'Ghostbusters' at Founders Green, with a picnic-style atmosphere.
Screen on the Green is back at Founders Green this Friday, October 30, with Ghostbusters (1984) on the screen. It's part of Downtown Atlanta Inc.'s weekly outdoor movie series, which runs every Friday night at the same spot in South Downtown. This particular screening falls right on the eve of Halloween, so the timing works out well for a movie about ghost hunters.
If you haven't been, Founders Green is a newly opened half-acre public park at 110 Broad Street SW. It used to be a parking lot, and they've turned it into a community gathering space with a stage, seating, and open ground for concerts and film nights. The whole thing is kept low-key: you're encouraged to bring a blanket and pack a picnic, or pick up food from nearby spots like El Tesoro, Slice Downtown, and Broad Street BBQ, and watch under the stars.
Ghostbusters is the 1984 original, the one with Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd as New York City paranormal investigators who start their own ghost-catching business. It's a classic for a reason, and seeing it outdoors on a Friday night is a good way to kick off the weekend. The movie starts at 6:30 PM, so you'll have plenty of time to get your spot and settle in before the opening credits roll.
