Free Monday night stand-up hosted by Rotknee at The Star Community Bar in Little Five Points, billed as Atlanta's longest-running inner-city comedy show.
Rotknee Presents Monday Night Comedy is back at The Star Community Bar on Monday, October 19, starting at 8 PM. It's a stand-up night hosted by Rotknee, and it's free to get in.
If you've been around the Atlanta scene for a while, you might recognize the name. Rotknee Presents bills itself as the city's longest-running inner-city comedy show, and it's been putting on Monday night stand-up for about nine years now. That's a long run for a weekly room, especially one that's kept its Monday slot for nearly a decade.
The venue is The Star Community Bar, located at 437 Moreland Ave N.E. in Little Five Points. For years, the bar has paired rockabilly and hard-rocking acts with free Monday night comedy, and it's home to a hidden shrine to Elvis Presley, complete with its own altar and throne. The place has picked up its share of local readers' and critics' picks over the years, including Best Comedy Night/Show and Late-Night Marathon in 2013, Best Rock Club in 2008, and Best Place to Hear Music For Free in 2009, before it closed its doors on December 31, 2019. This brings the comedy back to a room that's a known quantity in Little Five.
